Expert Overview
Navaid is an expert on issues of diversity, extremism, community based intervention and Islam.
Navaid is an Imam at the Islamic Information Society of Calgary. He lectures on current and relevant topics from an Islamic perspective. His workshops focus on best practices in sensitivity and diversity training for those engaging with Muslims. He shares his expertise on Muslim extremism, the history of Muslim extremist groups, and community based intervention and prevention with the courts, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and law enforcement.
Navaid also works as a family and youth counsellor. He also serves as the Director of Public Relations for Al-Maghrib Institute, the world's largest English-speaking Islamic Institute. In his role as a public speaker, Navaid has lectured across five continents and over 20 countries thus far.
In 2015, Navaid became the first ever Muslim chaplain with the Calgary Police Services.
